Hello Band and Color Guard Families,
Saturday November 12, 2011 will be our 1st Adopt a Highway Clean Up for the school year. We hope you will come out and join us for this great community service event. We will meet in the High School Parking lot at 8:30. Pick up usually takes about two hours, but this is really dependent on how many workers we get. The more volunteers the quicker we get finished. Its a great way to meet other band and color guard families. This time of year is good for clean up efforts because the bugs are gone for the most part and the weather is usually cool and breezy as opposed to hot and sticky. We need a good size turn out to get the job finished!
For those of you not familiar with the Adopt a Highway program we meet about 3- 4 times a year to clean the outside edges of RT 17 from York Middle School to York High School . This not only makes RT 17 look nicer between our York County Schools but also provides band member service hours as well as HS community service hours.
All safety vests, gloves, trash bags etc. are provided. Oh yes and you must be on the look out for hidden ( and not so hidden) treasures strewn about the highway. There is a prize rewarded to the most interesting or most unusual treasures found. Believe us when we say some are quite bizarre indeed! Youll have to participate to find out the details. Its a lot of fun and we need you!
Snacks and drinks are provided.
Looking forward to seeing all of you out there on November 12th
Please RSVP so we know how many volunteers to expect. Family members 10 years and older can also help out, but must be accompanied by a parent if they are not band or color guard members!
Thank You!
